This month’s theme is Elections!
Please bring articles you want to discuss. More ideas and deeper understanding will flow when we are sharing thoughts. Find out about lesser known publications or topics the mass media isn’t covering, including local news. Learn more about members’ interests and we will consider developing programming around them.
December 10th is Human Rights Day!
Annually Last Frontier Freethinkers get together to write letters for Amnesty International’s Write for Rights Campaign. We also take some time to remind ourselves of the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
Please join us for good food and conversation while writing letters to help those who have had their human rights violated.
Let’s Drink to Darwin as we celebrate academic and social justice achievements that have shaped history immensely.
Darwin’s work in biology supported the work of scientists, freethinkers, and social activists in the United States and Europe. Building on such work has led us to the global pursuit of a humane understanding of our world. We stand on the shoulders of humanist giants who, in turn, stood on Darwin’s seminal works to inform their ideas and activism.
A Letter to the Editor (or LTE) is a great way for LFF to raise awareness on important issues locally, nationally, and globally, as well as get media attention for our group.
Read your local newspaper this month and try to connect any of these prompts to the articles they are generating…
– Why do you stand up against discrimination as a humanist?
– Why is injustice to one group injustice to all?
– How do you appreciate life without any ties to faith?
– How does LFF help people live happy, meaningful lives (connected to World Happiness Day)?
This is the Last Frontier Freethinkers Nonprofit annual meeting. We will re-establish the 5 board members that is needed to keep our American Humanist Association Chapter status.
New board members are elected or re-elected annually. We appreciate everyone coming out to show your support. We need volunteers! Please consider coming, voting, and running for one of the open spots!
It is time to reconnect with our fellow Freethinkers, COVID-19 style, through a virtual Humanist Happy Hour. Saddle up to your computer with your favorite beverage in tow. Let’s explore how our shared humanist values can guide us through these difficult times. We’ll ponder the issues developed or heightened by life during COVID-19 and how we can best respond.
