With the rapidly warming climate, and recent studies projecting decreased salmon habitat elsewhere, now is the time to understand the threats posed to wild salmon in Alaska’s freshwater habitat. Sue Mauger, Science Director at Cook Inletkeeper, coordinates water temperature monitoring networks across Cook Inlet and Bristol Bay salmon streams. On Earth Day, Sue will discuss recent findings and why anticipating the magnitude and scope of ecological changes to freshwater habitats is essential for the Kenai Peninsula’s salmon, economy, and societal health.
